libhdf4g-dev software package provides Hierarchical Data Format library -- transitional development package, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libhdf4g-dev
libhdf4g-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libhdf4g-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libhdf4g-dev *
You will get with libhdf4g-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
